After the success of the first international Datathon that took place earlier this year, the Global Datathon 2018 2.0 will take place from September 28 to 30. This time the cases provided by the companies will challenge the participants’ machine learning skills applied in various industries.
In the spirit of Data Science Society, we are always striving to improve and help the global data science community grow together. In line with this, we have invited a multitude of international partnering institutions to join forces with us and bring the Datathon spirit to their local communities around the world. From Austria, we have WeAreDevelopers.
WeAreDevelopers’ mission is to connect developers globally. WeAreDevelopers was founded to help developers grow to find opportunities that open new beginnings. The organization enables developers across the world to share their knowledge and experience with one another, and they are doing that through multiple events and world-known congresses such as the We are Developers World Congress and the We are Developers AI Congress coming in December 2018.
The Tech and AI Lead of WeAreDevelopers, Liad Magen has joined the first global Datathon and shared that it was a delightful weekend and even being a mentor, he had learned a lot. Liad will join the second edition of the Datathon as well!
From Croatia, we will be joined by the Algebra University College in Croatia.
The Algebra University College in Croatia is creating opportunities for Croatian and international students to acquire excellent skills and knowledge and build globally competitive careers in digital technologies. Part of their mission statement is: “We are aware of our responsibility within the community and we therefore actively promote educational excellence in digital technologies in order to encourage economic growth and development of Croatian economy. In our teaching and research, we strive to create a value system coherent to values in which we strongly believe.”
Тhe director of the Algebra LAB, Leo Mrsic, is joining the Global Datathon as a mentor for the second time. He stands by the idea for educational improvement through new approaches such as using digital technologies and building a community.
From India, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Manipal ProLearn – Data Science in the South Bangalore Campus will be bringing the Datathon experience to their local community.
Manipal Academy of Higher Education is synonymous with excellence in higher education. Over 28,000 students from 57 different nations live, learn and play in the sprawling University town, nestled on a plateau in Karnataka’s Udupi district.
Manipal ProLearn, a part of Manipal Global Education Services, offers a variety of professional certification courses across Technology, Digital Marketing, Data Sciences, Project Management, and Finance domains. Manipal ProLearn, a part of Manipal Global Education Services, offers a variety of professional certification courses among which is their Data Science program. The senior faculty of the data science and machine learning programs, Dr. Subhabaha Pal who is also one of the 20 most prominent analytics and data science academicians in India for 2018 will be joining the Data Science Hackathon again. He took part in the Academia Datathon 2018 as one of the most supportive mentors and was among the first to initiate the expanding of the Datathon in multiple locations around the world!
In Bulgaria, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University will have the pleasure to host the Global Datathon.
Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski is the first Bulgarian high academic school establishment. Its history is an embodiment and a continuation of the century-long cultural and educational tradition of the Bulgarian nation. The University is the center of the development of science and the education of students in all domains of life; it also cultivates highly educated, nationally responsible personalities who will lead the Bulgarian nation to spiritual feats and social welfare.
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA), which is the starting point of the Global Datathons, is one of the leading institutions for teaching and research in the field of Economics and Business in Bulgaria and the Balkan region. The Faculty’s data science-oriented programmes are designed to meet the needs of the new business environment where the students acquire key skills in understanding data specifics, effectively reveal hidden information and turn it into value.
