General Terms of Participation for DSS Hack the News Datathon 2019, 21-27th of January
With your registration, you accept the following conditions:
You must register for the Datathon event by using our registration form. We really believe in the cause, therefore the registration is free for online participants and with a token payment for physical participation depending on the local hosts. The registration becomes valid after the successful completion of booking a ticket on the DSS registration page.
2. Payment for participation at a local host
If you booked your ticket via other platform set up by the local host*, you should have received a code for registering. You should go to the registration form of the respective Datathon, select Onsite Ticket – Participating at a Host, enter your code for registration and book your ticket. This will drop the announced on the page price for participating onsite at a local host. Otherwise, if you don’t have code, your registration will become valid after the successful completion of payment.
*If you have purchased a ticket on other platform and didn’t receive a ticket, please contact the local community.
3. Order of conduct
With the registration for the Datathon, you undertake to conduct in an orderly manner in full compliance with the rules & regulations of the venue, and of the Republic of Bulgaria.
With the registration for the Datathon, you certify that you are at least 18 years of age and you understand these Terms and Conditions.
5. Usage of cases data
The data sets and other information provided to participants with regard to solving the data cases shall be used by them only during the duration of the event. Under no circumstances shall they be used for personal or commercial purposes outside the event format and activities. With the registration for the Datathon, you agree to also provide your work (analysis, methodology, source code, etc) to the organizers for them to publish on the event page, the Data Science Society website and other Data Science Society channels. We believe in the open-source projects and shared knowledge!
6. Personal data
With the registration for the Datathon, you agree that the organizers may present some of your personal data (name, e-mail) to 3rd parties in regard to the organization and conduct of the event.
7. Modification or cancellation of the event
The organizers reserve the right to cancel the event up to one day before the event is due to begin. Further claims for damages are excluded. If the event is canceled due to force majeure (fire, strike, terrorism etc.) or other circumstances, for which the organizers are not accountable, but which make the services significantly more difficult or impossible, you are entitled neither to the reimbursement of the participation fee, nor to compensation for other losses such as traveling expenses or hotel costs. In case of force majeure, the organizers will be exempt from the services for the duration of the obstruction.
Photographic and film documents (recordings) will be produced during the event when it has a physical location. We would like to point out that, with the registration form and confirmation of the event, you agree to the publication of photos and film recordings in which you are shown within the scope of the event.
9. Share and be a part of Data Science Society
The spirit of the society is to share and learn from each other. Therefore you agree to present your case’s results, discoveries and solution to Data Science Society in the form of an article, meetup, webinar or something else.
Have fun, make jokes, support others and build a friendly and safe learning environment.
Treat other participants the way you want to be treated. You can familiarize yourself with the DSS services that are available to you as a participant at the Datathon.
Collaborate and expand your knowledge together.
11. If you do not follow the General Terms of Participation
We can and will ban participants if they do not follow the general terms of participation. A good society is built on mutual respect.
