Speaker bio: Jeffrey Scott is the Deputy General Manager of WorldQuant’s Virtual Research Center and is responsible for recruiting and motivating top talent on a global basis. Recognizing that talent is global but the opportunity is not, WorldQuant currently has over 700 part-time Research Consultants across ten countries that work remotely developing alphas on the company’s web-based simulation platform.
Jeffrey is also responsible for global partner development within both academia and industry, and he oversees the creation and delivery of an online training program for participants in the WorldQuant Challenge.
With a background in computer science, Jeffrey has held various sales and management positions with leading tech firms and is a popular speaker on various subjects including leadership, technology adoption and personal development. Jeffrey resides in CT and is a published author and the father of nine children.
With us will be one finalist teams of Academia Datathon. They will present their solution on the real data #cryptocurrency case.

Summary: During the presentation, Jeffrey Scott will walk us through practical problems and challenges which he encountered during his time in WorldQuant. One of the topics which we are going to tackle is about Hedge Funds and Quants followed by Alpha Factory. Then we are going to speak about Data in Quantitative Finance which you can find related to the recent Academia Datathon topic. We will explore on a deeper level the WorldQuant Virtual Research Center followed by Research Consultant Program, WebSim and Q & A / Discussion where two renown researchers from WorldQuant, Stelian Nenkov and Veliko Donchev, will contribute to the discussion with their experience in the field.
We will continue with one of the finalists from
#AcademiaDatathon. Team UNWE will present their solution to the #cryptocurrency data case and explain to us how they managed to overcome the obstacles during the working process.
