The March edition meet-up from the Data science society & PyData meet-ups 2024 is here!

Who is the presenter?

Boyan (Bobby) Markov is an experienced data analyst with a diverse background, boasting 6+ years in the field. Transitioning from investment banking where he specialized in finance and private equity, he now excels in mobile gaming analytics.

Bobby uses A/B testing and machine learning to enhance user experiences and drive player value. His work spans collaborations with major international corporations on the market, as well as supporting VC backed start-ups through their growth phases.

Currently, he is pursuing a PhD, focusing on individual risk propensity with ML, blending his industry experience with academic curiosity.

In this session, the audience will be introduced to a refined approach to the Balloon Analog Risk Task (BART) aimed at analysing individual risk-taking behaviours. The presentation will cover the entire machine learning modelling process, including:

  • data cleaning
  • applying heuristic rules for outlier detection
  • feature selection
  • the use of an XGB classifier to develop a comprehensive risk spectrum.

This methodical approach will provide a detailed, data-driven examination of individual risk propensities, highlighting the steps from raw data to actionable insights.

Except for the MeetUp, everyone is invited to share what he/she is doing in the field of Data Science – We believe that sharing is caring! Save some time after the presentation for networking and chatting! : )
