Mevan Babakar – Head of Automated Factchecking at Full Fact

Mevan leads our automated factchecking work. She is chair of the international Technical Standards Committee for automated factchecking. She is an adviser to the UK’s Big Lottery Fund on digital and has been adviser to both the HeroX and the Fake News Challenge automated factchecking competitions. She also ran the election and referendum crowdfunding campaigns, the latest raised over £100,000.

Mevan joined Full Fact in 2014 after working at Cancer Research in digital. She helped build Bite the Ballot where she launched Britain’s first ever National Voter Registration Day. She graduated with a Masters in Bioengineering from the University of Sheffield.
